How does the Internet work? What happens to my data? How do I get the computer to do what I want? Informatics lessons at the GISW answer these and many other related questions that occur to students in their daily 鈥渄igital life鈥�.  In this course students create homepages, build virtual networks, learn basic programming using different languages and get to explore the inside of a computer.

Besides acquiring the knowledge and techniques of contemporary computing technology, students are encouraged to undertake independent exploration, challenge-based learning through complex tasks that lead to creative solutions. Those who master the subject so as to understand how computers work gain a significant advantage in all dimensions of the digital age; they are far better prepared to exploit opportunities aligned with their career and personal goals and can use their skills to avoid the many hazards across modern IT.
