Curiosity in Action: A Fourth-Grade Science Adventure
As part of their science lessons, the fourth grade classes took an exciting field trip to the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore shortly before the Christmas holidays. There, the students first participated in a 鈥淶iplock Chemistry Class,鈥� during which they were able to carry out and closely observe various chemical processes themselves. They experimented with great enthusiasm and asked many questions.
Afterward, the children explored the Science Center in small groups. There was plenty to discover: from dinosaur bones and a bed of nails to hands-on stations for measuring strength and exploring electricity and electrical circuits鈥攖here was something for everyone.
The students had a lot of fun and were able to deepen their knowledge in a playful and engaging way. The trip was a successful and varied conclusion to the first science unit in fourth grade.
