Celebrate Pi Day with us at the German International School Washington D.C.!
On March 14th, the world of mathematics revolves around a number of extraordinary importance and fascination: π (Pi). This infinite, non-repeating decimal begins with 3.1415 and stretches into infinity, a mystery that has captivated mathematicians for centuries. This is precisely why we celebrate Pi Day at the German International School, a date that, following the American calendar format (03/14), corresponds to the sequence of numbers in Pi.
On this special day, our students from grades 5 to 9 engage in a friendly competition against each other. During the 7th and 8th periods on Thursday, they demonstrate their mathematical skills by solving exciting and challenging mathematical puzzles. For those who successfully tackle the puzzles, not only are delicious pies up for grabs as a reward, but they also get the chance to attempt two bonus tasks.
Pi Day is more than just a school event; it's an opportunity to strengthen the community, foster a love for mathematics, and most importantly, have a lot of fun together. Join us as we celebrate the beauty and mystery of mathematics!
