STEM: Bean Project
Learning about a 鈥減lants in a 鈥渘ovel鈥� environment
The GISW鈥檚 science program encourages students to think innovatively and to work industriously. This philosophy is especially evident via our 6th grade鈥檚 creative portfolio assignment about the fascinating world of plants. Our interactive assignment has been filled with fun and resourceful experiments and activities that have occupied and educated us over the last 5 weeks. We鈥檝e been monitoring the swelling, germination, growth, and development of bean seeds, which we documented in a bean diary. Furthermore, we鈥檝e assembled flowers reconstructed from real blossoms and created diagrams about pollination.
Although distance learning has created more obstacles than usual, this assignment has brought the joy of learning, thanks to Mrs. Colopy.

Mein Bohnengedicht (Student's Poem)
脺berall sind sie verbreitet,
F眉r ihr Wachsen wird viel gearbeitet,
Die meisten Bohnengruppen,
Verwandeln sich dann zu Bohnensuppen.
Die Bohne ist reich an Vitaminen,
Obwohl so klein wie die Rosinen,
Besonders reich ist sie an Calcium,
Aber auch an Eisen und Magnesium.
Vorsicht ist jedoch angesagt,
Damit man sp盲ter nicht weiter klagt,
Die rohe Bohne enth盲lt Phasin,
Und wenn gegessen ist der Schmerz zum Knien.
Hiermit wird deutlich gezeigt,
Dass die Bohne ist sehr verzweigt,
Mal lecker und gesund,
Mal gef盲hrlicher als ein wilder Hund.
